Frequently asked questions
How many frames can I extract?
There’s no hard limit — you can extract as many frames as you need from the same video. Each frame is held in your browser’s memory, so very large numbers of high-resolution frames may slow things down. For most uses, extracting up to 50–100 frames works smoothly.
What resolution are the extracted frames?
Frames are extracted at the video’s full native resolution. A 1080p video produces 1920×1080 images. The resolution is shown on each frame thumbnail.
How does the ZIP download work?
The ZIP is generated entirely in your browser using JavaScript — no server involved. All captured frames are bundled into a single ZIP file and downloaded at once. Each file is named with the video name and timestamp (e.g. video-0m02.340s.png).
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No — this tool uses the Canvas API entirely in your browser. Your video never leaves your device. No FFmpeg, no server processing, nothing transmitted anywhere.
What’s the difference between this and Video Screenshot?
The Video Screenshot tool is designed for capturing a single frame quickly with an instant preview. The Frame Extractor is designed for capturing multiple frames in one session and downloading them all together as a ZIP. Use Screenshot for one-offs, use Frame Extractor for batch work.
