Frequently asked questions
What’s the difference between Repeat and Boomerang?
Repeat plays the clip forward, then forward again, then forward again — like pressing play multiple times. Boomerang plays forward, then immediately in reverse, then forward again, alternating each cycle. Boomerang produces a seamless visual loop with no obvious cut point and is popular for social media clips, product showcases, and background video.
Why is my output file so large?
Each loop is a full re-encoded copy of the segment, so file size multiplies with repeat count. A 5MB clip looped 4 times produces roughly a 20MB output. Keep your source clip short — a 3–5 second segment looped 3 times produces a much more shareable file than a longer clip. Use the Video Compressor afterward if you need a smaller file for sharing.
Is my video uploaded to a server?
No — everything runs locally in your browser using WebAssembly (FFmpeg.wasm). Your video never leaves your device and no data is stored or transmitted anywhere.
How many times should I loop for social media?
For TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts, 3–4 loops of a 3–5 second clip is a sweet spot — long enough to hold attention, short enough to stay under platform file size limits. For a website background video, 6–10 loops of a very short clip (1–2 seconds) works well. For GIF-style sharing, consider using the GIF Maker instead, which creates a natively looping file.
Will the loop have a visible cut between repeats?
With Repeat mode, there may be a slight visual cut between repeats if the first and last frames of your clip don’t match. To minimize this, trim your clip so it starts and ends on a similar frame (e.g. a ball at the top of its arc). With Boomerang mode, the cut is seamless by design — the reverse plays back to the exact start frame, so the transition is invisible.
Which browsers are supported?
The Loop Video tool works in any modern browser supporting WebAssembly and SharedArrayBuffer: Chrome 92+, Edge 92+, Firefox 90+, and Safari 15.2+.
