Frequently asked questions

What resolution will the screenshot be?

The screenshot is captured at the video’s full native resolution — whatever the video was encoded at. A 1080p video will produce a 1920×1080 image. The resolution is shown in the preview after capture.

PNG or JPG — which should I choose?

Choose PNG for a pixel-perfect lossless image, ideal for graphics, thumbnails, or anything where quality matters. Choose JPG for a smaller file size that’s easier to share — at 95% quality the difference is barely visible. PNG files from high-resolution videos can be 3–5MB; JPG at 85% quality might be under 500KB.

Can I capture multiple frames?

Yes — just scrub to a new position and click Capture Frame again. Each capture updates the preview and download link. If you need to save many frames, use our Frame Extractor tool which lets you extract multiple frames at specific timestamps in one go.

Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No — this tool uses the browser’s built-in Canvas API to capture frames. Your video never leaves your device. No FFmpeg, no server processing, nothing transmitted anywhere.

Why is the captured frame blurry?

The captured frame will only be as sharp as the video itself. If the video is low resolution or heavily compressed, the screenshot will reflect that. Make sure you’re paused on a non-blurred frame — fast motion in video is often blurred by motion blur in the encoding.
